Things I learned this week

This week was a good one. Not as big as last week, when I wrote a blog post about k12 skills needing proficiency levels that was my most read article perhaps ever!

However while there were some great things that happened at work this week it’s not the kind of thing I can talk about publicly! But I’ve been helping write LinkedIn/social media posts and this one is superior to what I had at first, but I had course-skill alignment in there…

As training for the 70.3 Morro Bay Half Ironman progresses, I was able to hit two milestones this week that have to do more with mental than physical. My longest swim of at least the past 3 years (2200 yards). Not super fast (fastest ‘100 yd free sprint’ was a 1:08; I expect to be under a minute for 100!).

I hurt my calf a couple weeks ago on a monday night run club run and it still hurts too much to put much running pressure on it, but I’m going to a physical therapist next week to get that sorted out. So might as well do things that don’t hurt it, like rowing (helps swimming), weights/stretching, and cycling+swimming. I also attained my longest indoor zwift ride which is also more about me getting bored on zwift or sitting there thinking about all the other things I have to do.

So once I’m back in the running game looking forward to being able to do perhaps an indoor tri (can swim indoors, go to the gym where I can use a treadmill, and then go home and zwift it up haha) .
