After a long break — 2014 was the last triathlon I did but I remember not training very much as Tri-This was winding down, I was preparing to start a new job and leave the classroom etc. Even still, 8 years between races is a long time from when I was doing races every couple months (or even two several hundred miles apart in a weekend… with multiple students!). Now that both kids are in school full time and I am a fully remote worker, I’ve been consistent enough at getting training in the past few months I felt I was ready to dip my toe in racing again.

Apple watch activity dashboard where blue is ‘standing’, lime is workout and red is calories burned. My daily goal is 1K calories.

Preparation

So after getting a new road bike and wetsuit along with training for the past few months I was ready to go! Arriving the night before and seeing the transition area all set up, race numbers and shirts really brought back memories of the dozens of races I participated/volunteered/hosted from2007–2014.

Race Morning

Because… OREGON… it rained race day morning which actually made the race even a bit…
